Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup Lisowski hard to hold back - ski legends Hannawald & company make for a spectacular show
The Pole Mateusz Lisowski dominated the second race weekend of the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup season. At the new Red Bull ring in Spielberg in a turbulent wet race on Saturday that included a safety car period the Pole relegated the American James Mobley and Ola Nilsson (S) to positions two and three. After a collision, two of the Legends entrants were forced to retire: Thomas Morgenstern and Sven Hannawald parked their blue bio natural gas Scirocco cars in the pit lane. Sunday's round was won by Stefano Proetto (Germany) in front of Lisowski and Dennis Trebing (USA). The best result in the Legends classification was achieved by Hans Knauß (A), who took tenth place on Saturday. In the overall standings Lisowski defended his lead against Stefano Proetto and James Mobley.
Formula 3 Euro Series Volkswagen drivers with a streak of podium finishes at Spielberg
On the fourth race weekend of the Formula 3 Euro Series at Spielberg the podium positions were firmly in the hands of the Volkswagen racers: At the first race Signature driver Marco Wittmann (Germany) took third place while at the second race on Saturday his team-mates "powered by Volkswagen”, Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) and Daniel Abt (Germany,) in second and third place mounted the coveted podium. The third round on Sunday saw Tom Dillmann (France) from the Volkswagen customer team Motopark finish on position three ahead of four other Dallara Volkswagen cars. In the overall standings Wittmann is ranking in fourth place.
Porsche Carrera Cup Points for Volkswagen Junior Kris Heidorn at Spielberg
The Volkswagen Juniors René Rest and Kris Heidorn experienced ups and downs at the third round of the Porsche Carrera Cup at the Red Bull Ring. Whereas Heidorn occupied 13th place overall and scored three championship points, Supercup champion René Rast retired after an accident.
ATS Formula 3 Cup Richie Stanaway unbeatable at Assen
The New Zealander Richie Stanaway in the Dallara F307 Volkswagen was unbeatable at the fourth round of the ATS Formula 3 Cup at Assen in The Netherlands. The 19-year-old clinched the pole position for both races and achieved a commanding double victory. Stanaway now has six wins to his credit. In the standings the Volkswagen driver extended his lead to 17 points.
Polo Cup South Africa Victories for Lee Thompson and Devin Robertson
The fourth race weekend of the Volkswagen Polo Cup South Africa was ultra-competitive. At the first round at Phakisa Lee Thompson clinched a commanding victory in front of Devin Robertson. At the second race Robertson celebrated revenge and beat Thompson by a razor-thin margin of 0.234 seconds. Third place at both races went to Kosie Weyers.
Formula Volkswagen South Africa Robert Wolk and Simon Moss celebrate successes
Robert Wolk and Simon Moss showed a strong duel on the fourth weekend of the Formula Volkswagen South Africa at Phakisa. At the first round the two South Africans battled each other almost up to the end of the race. Then Moss made a driving mistake and dropped to sixth place. Victory went to Wolk. At the second race Moss delivered a flawless performance and won in front of Robert Wolk and Jayde Kruger.
