Porsche Supercup Volkswagen Junior René Rast dominates at Silverstone
Perfect weekend for René Rast in round five of the Porsche Supercup 2011 at Silverstone held within the framework of the Formula 1 meeting. The German Volkswagen Junior converted his pole position into a convincing start to finish victory. Furthermore, following his third consecutive victory this season Rast took the Supercup championship lead from Briton Sean Edwards who was tenth in front of his home public.
ADAC Formel Masters Wehrlein and Bernstorff rock at the Ring
Pascal Wehrlein and Emil Bernstorff dominated proceedings at the Nürburgring during the fourth ADAC Formel Masters race weekend. In the first two races the German Wehrlein further extended his championship lead after recording his sixth and seventh victories of the season. The Briton Emil Bernstorff finished second on both occasions. In race three Wehrlein was excluded due to his overly aggressive driving. Bernstorff took second in the overall standings thanks to his third victory this season. Roy Nissany (Israel), Artem Markelov (Russia), Mario Farnbacher and Sven Müller (Germany) also celebrated podium positions. Every driver in the ADAC Formel Masters drives a powerful 145 hp Dallara Volkswagen.
Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup China Montesi and Reggiani triumph at Ordos
Stefano Montesi and Andrea Reggiani took the winners spoils at the third Chinese Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup race weekend. In the first race around the Ordos International Circuit (China) the Italian Stefano Montesi benefited from his pole position and won from his fellow countryman Andrea Reggiani and Frenchman Patrick Boulaud. After three podium finishes in the first five races of the season Reggiani celebrated his first victory in 2011. The Chinese Dasheng Zhang and Patrick Boulaud followed in second and third positions.
Volkswagen Endurance Cup Netherlands Accord Uitzendbureau with two victories in succession
Following its triumph in race two at Zolder the Accord Uitzendbureau team was also victorious in the third Volkswagen Endurance Cup Netherlands race at Assen. Jeroen den Boer and Marcel Dekker crossed the finish line after five hours in their Volkswagen Golf V 2.0 TDI ahead of the Peter Kommer Autosport and RSR teams. Peter Kommer Autosport remains at the head of the overall standings with 162 points followed by Morien Match (151) and Accord Uitzendbureau (150).
