British Formula 3 Championship Wins for Rupert Svendsen-Cook and Kevin Magnussen
Drivers ‘powered by Volkswagen' also shone at the penultimate British Formula 3 Championship race weekend. In the first race at Donington the Volkswagen customer team Carlin recorded a one-two-three podium lock out. Rupert Svendsen-Cook won ahead of his team mates Carlos Huertas and Jack Harvey. In the third race victory went – for the 18th time this season – to a Volkswagen driver. First on this occasion was Kevin Magnussen, Svendsen-Cook took another podium finish in third place. In the wet second race Menasheh Idafar was the best youngster with a power plant from Wolfsburg. Although Carlin driver Felipe Nasr who was crowned champion earlier in the season took a pole position he was unable to better a ninth, tenth and a retirement in the races.
Scandinavian Touring Car Championship Team biogas.se wins team championship
Volkswagen driver Fredrik Ekblom narrowly missed winning the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship title despite claiming a second and third place at the season finale at Mantorp Park. In the overall standings the 40-year old finished just a mere two points behind Rickard Rydell. In contrast team biogas.se, which enters up to three more Volkswagen Scirocco using environmentally friendly Biogas power, convincingly claimed first place in the team classification.
South African Rally Championship Enzo Kuun keeps title fight alive
Volkswagen driver Enzo Kuun kept his chances of winning the South African Rally Championship alive with second place in the Western Cape Rally. The defending champion is second nine points behind the championship leader before the finale at the end of October. 25 championship points are still to be awarded at the Polokwane Rally. The 2009 Dakar Rally winner Giniel de Villiers retired after an accident from the seventh of eight season rallies.
Volkswagen Racing Cup One for Aaron Mason, one for James Walker
Two different winners took the spoils at the British Volkswagen Racing Cup races at Donington. In the first race Aaron Mason narrowly won from James Walker and Richard Walker.
