The turbocharged and award-winning 2.0 TFSI delivers 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque from four cylinders, displacing 2.0 liters. The engine is built with a sturdy cast iron block and lightweight aluminum-alloy cylinder head for maximum efficiency. A large intercooler chills air coming from the turbocharger, and technologies like Audi Valvelift System, FSI direct injection and throttle by wire all work in harmony to both increase power and lower fuel consumption. The 2.0 TFSI is capable of up to 30 mpg.
Unlike traditional fuel systems, FSI direct injection works by injecting fuel directly into the combustion chamber, instead of the engine intake runners. The advanced process ensures a more complete burn, diminishing waste and increasing power. FSI-equipped engines also are able to take advantage of a significantly higher compression ratio and cylinder pressure, thus fully atomizing fuel and optimizing turbocharger and supercharger boost response as well as efficiency.
