British Formula 3 Championship Carlos Sainz Jr takes the lead with two wins
Young Carlos Sainz Jr (E) enjoyed some success on the second weekend of racing in the British Formula 3 Championship: the Volkswagen driver, who is just 17 years old, won two out of three races in Monza and therefore moves to the top of the leader board. In the first race, Sainz Jr was joined on the winners’ rostrum by a second Volkswagen driver, Jazeman Jaafar. The Wolfsburg-based brand was also represented on the rostrum in the second race, with Jack Harvey (GB) and Pietro Fantin (BR) coming second and third respectively. Sainz Jr, who, like all of his Volkswagen colleagues, drives a brand-new Dallara F312 Volkswagen for the Carlin team, then scored his second victory in the final race. The Spaniard is now at the top of the drivers’ standings with 74 points. Jaafar (65) and Harvey (63) are third and fourth overall respectively.
