FIA Formula 3 European Championship Carlos Sainz Jr. takes overall lead
Volkswagen driver Carlos Sainz Jr. has continued his successful series of results in the revived Formula 3 European Championship. At the 71st Grand Prix of Pau the 17-year old son of rally legend Carlos Sainz finished second. As the Spaniard had already scored points in the first race, Sainz Jr. now shares the lead after the second of ten Formula 3 European Championship race weekends. With 62 points on the scoreboard he is equal on points with Daniel Juncadella after the race weekend in the city on South France.
British Formula 3 Championship Jazeman Jaafar best Volkswagen driver in Pau
Jazeman Jaafar was the most successful Volkswagen driver at the race weekend in Pau, South France, with two podium finishes. The Malaysian racing driver steered his Volkswagen Dallara F312 to second place in the first race. In the main race, the 71st Grand Prix of Pau, Jaafar finished third behind his team mate Carlos Sainz Jr. In the British Formula 3 Championship overall standings Sainz Jr. leads with 104 points closely followed by Jaafar (101).
FIA World Rally Championship Volkswagen factory team contest Greek Rally
Volkswagen Motorsport now prepares for the Greek Rally (25-27 May) following the overseas event the Rally Argentina. The Volkswagen factory team again fields two Fabia S2000 cars from Group brand Škoda in the sixth round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). The driver teams Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) and Andreas Mikkelsen/Ola Fløene (N/N) will compete. The starts this season are seen as preparation for next year when Volkswagen enters the World Rally Championship with the Polo R WRC.
31st Volkswagen Golf GTI rendezvous Volkswagen Polo R WRC appears at Wörthersee
The Volkswagen Polo R WRC for the 2013 World Rally Championship makes a special outing this coming weekend. The public can admire the thoroughbred rally car at the 31st Volkswagen GTI rendezvous in Reifnitz at the Wörthersee (16–19 May) to which more than 100,000 visitors travel every year. As a result, the Polo R WRC continues the tradition started by the Scirocco GT24 and the Golf24, which were also presented as leading motorsport models from Volkswagen at the Austrian festival.
