The Kieler Woche, the world’s biggest sailing event, came to an end today with the final regatta events being played out on the water. Audi was there as the premium partner to the nine-day event for the third time, in Kiel to serve the yachtsmen and entertain the visitors with all sorts of attractions, both on dry land and on the water.

One of the stars at Kiel Fjord was the TP52 yacht belonging to Audi Sailing Team powered by ALL4ONE. The Audi vessel captained by Jochen Schümann was not only successful in all its regattas, but was also something of a mecca for Audi’s VIP guests. As the event got underway, there were no less than twelve gold medal winners on board: Skipper Schümann was joined by four novices in the form of skiers Hilde Gerg and Claudia Nystad, bobsledder André Lange, and track cyclist Robert Bartko.

The actor Ralf Möller was also willing to take the helm of the yacht decked out in the Audi colors during his visit to Kiel. DTM star Miguel Molina took on an extra special challenge by sailing in the "Silbernes Band” night race alongside his race engineer Laurent Fedacou. Meanwhile, fellow Audi racing driver Edoardo Mortara, who recently won the race in Spielberg, Austria, joined the fans to see everything that was on offer at the Audi Sailing Arena in Kiel’s city center.

As usual, Audi was also at the service of all the yachtsmen during the Kieler Woche event: 30 Audi Q7 cars were used to handle the total of 1,500 trailer transfers between the individual vessel categories, which involved some complex logistics. The visitors got to familiarize themselves with Audi in more than 1,000 test drives in vehicles ranging from the Audi A1 up to the Audi A6, while the approximately 1,000 VIP guests were chauffeur-driven to the various event locations in 30 Audi A8 cars.

Once again this year, one of the most popular places for the yachties and fans alike was the Audi stage together with the Audi Lounge in Schilksee, where they were able to see the award ceremonies and interviews and live broadcasts of the regattas on a large screen. The TV channel "Kieler Woche TV,” which was once again presented by Audi, broadcast fascinating pictures of all the action on the water as well as talks with the stars. Anyone who was unable to actually go to Kiel was nevertheless able to stay up to date thanks to the new website and the app of the same name for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Audi Sailing Team Germany – Germany’s team for the Olympics – was symbolically sent off to the games in London during the Kieler Woche event. As they left, they waved to the onlookers from the stern of the TP52 belonging to Audi Sailing Team powered by ALL4ONE. They were joined by Jochen Schümann, a winner of three Olympic gold medals and therefore the most successful German yachtsman of all time, who wished the current generation of elite sailors all the best for the Olympics.
