Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup Nilsson wins again – Legend Ogier takes strong fourth place
Ola Nilsson again underlined his breath-taking dominance in the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup at the Nürburgring. In the seventh race of the season, the Swede clinched his sixth victory. As early as at the next round at Oschersleben (17–19 September) last year’s runner-up could become the new champion. The other podium places at the Eifel venue were occupied by Volkswagen rally junior Kevin Abbring (Netherlands) and Dennis Trebing (USA). Thanks to a recovery from tenth to fourth place Volkswagen factory driver Sébastien Ogier (France) won the Legends classification ahead of the other rally stars, Carlos Sainz (Spain), Markku Alén and Juha Kankkunen (both Finland).
FIA Formula 3 European Championship Two podium places for Volkswagen at the Nürburgring
At the seven round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship at the Nürburgring, Volkswagen drivers celebrated two finishes in the points. In the third race at the Eifel circuit, which like the first one is counted in the European Championship classification, the Carlin racers William Buller (Great Britain) and guest entrant Jazeman Jaafar (Malaysia) mounted the podium after taking second and third place, respectively. The two Britons Emil Bernstorff and Tom Blomqvist (both ma-con Motorsport) on positions four and five completed the good Volkswagen result. In the first race, Jaafar in fifth place was the best Volkswagen driver.
South African Rally Championship Fourth place for Enzo Kuun at Rally South Africa
Enzo Kuun and his co-driver Guy Hodgson finished the fifth round of the South African Rally Championship in the Volkswagen Polo S2000 in fourth place. As Rally South Africa is considered a WRC candidate for 2014 a few guest entrants from the World Rally Championship were represented. They included the Dutchman Hans Weijs jr., who together with co-driver Björn Degandt in the Polo S2000 set a fastest time on the first leg but was forced to retire from the rally after an engine defect.
Volkswagen Endurance Cup Netherlands Accord Uitzendbureau wins at Zandvoort 12 Hours
With a three-lap advantage, Team Accord Uitzendbureau secured victory at the fifth round of the season in the Volkswagen Endurance Cup Netherlands and thus continued to extend its lead in the standings. At the 12-hour race on the dune circuit at Zandvoort, the team of vd Helm Motorsports finished as the runner-up ahead of FIA Racing. 16 Volkswagen teams had competed in the longest race of the season.
