VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring Krognes/Brinkmann/Andree are crowned champions
The Volkswagen driver Christian Krognes, Dominik Brinkmann and Ullrich Andree from team LMS Engineering convincingly won the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring. In their Scirocco GT24 the trio celebrated seven of a possible nine class wins in the hotly contested category of VLN specials with engines of up to 2,000 cc displacement with turbo (SP3T) and had travelled to the season finale as championship leaders. As this was cancelled due to snow and ice the team could not be deprived of the title. After 1982, 1985 and 1989, it is the fourth overall victory for Volkswagen since the championship was established 35 years ago. Winning the VLN Junior Trophy was an additional highlight for Brinkmann/Krognes.
