Woodcliff Lake, NJ – July 26, 2010… RSR Motorsports Racing Team car No. 198 captured their first series win for both RSR and MINI, earning first place in the Street Tuner (ST) Class during the race at New Jersey Motor Sports Park on July 17, 2010.

In addition to the first-place trophy, the RSR Motorsports team will also be presented with a $5,000 award from MINI as part of its Motorsports Contingency Program. This will be the largest payout the program has ever made to any of the motorsports teams that race MINI vehicles.

“The RSR Motorsports team had a great run at New Jersey Motor Sports Park, and demonstrated the full capability of MINI as a racing competitor,” said Jim McDowell, Vice President of MINI USA. “Racing is a key part of MINI’s heritage, and we are grateful to the teams like RSR Motorsports who help to keep MINI’s racing spirit alive with their strong commitment of both time and effort.”

After rebuilding a badly burned out car from the ground up, RSR Motorsports drivers, Randy Smalley and Owen Trinkler, finished last weekend’s race with a 16.071-second lead ahead of the second-place vehicle.  This victory follows on the heels of car No. 198’s third-place podium finish at the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in March.

“The car was good, the team was great; this was a hard-earned win for us,” said team owner and driver, Randy Smalley. “2010 is shaping up to be a solid season for RSR Motorsports, and we will continue to stay focused and hope that we earn additional podium spots this season.”

MINI USA also congratulates seventh-place finishers, Sara Cattaneo and VJ Mirzayan; their best showing to date in their No. 197 MINI Cooper S.
