Ingolstadt, June 26, 2011 - Audi fans can look forward to a spectacular weekend: while the DTM races at the Norisring, the Le Mans winning Audi R18 TDI will inspire fans at four locations.

Four events in one week: while two Audi R18 TDI contest round four of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, the LMP1 sportscar can also be admired at two other large motorsport events. The 24 Hour of Le Mans race winning car will be seen during a demonstration run within the framework of the DTM at the Norisring. In the middle of Nuremberg the sportscar will complete a lap of the street circuit before the DTM race on Sunday. At the same time another example of the R18 TDI will be in action at the "Festival of Speed" in Southern England. On Monday André Lotterer drives the R18 TDI around the factory premises at the Audi site in Neckarsulm. Last Tuesday the original winning car drove through the main factory in Ingolstadt.

Impressive display: at the "Festival of Speed" at Goodwood Audi us not only represented by the R18 TDI. During the classic highlight Marco Werner drives an Audi R10 TDI. He became the first winner with diesel power at Le Mans in 2006 with such a prototype together with Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro. Hans-Joachim Stuck, DTM Champion in 1990 with Audi, drives an Auto Union Type D and Pink Floyd drummers Nick Mason an Auto Union Type C.

Podium for the Audi R8 LMS in France: at the fourth round of the French GT Championship at Val de Vienne David Hallyday and Stéphane Ortelli from Audi Team France finished third in Saturday’s race ahead of Nicolas Tardif and Grégoire Guilvert from team Saintéloc.

A word from ... Marcel Fässler

Marcel Fassler

You’ve contested two 24-hour races within two weeks for Audi - at Le Mans and at the Nürburgring. In France it was enough for overall victory, in the Eifel class victory. How did you find both races?

Le Mans was obviously a dream. My two team mates and I won for the first time there. At the Nürburgring a tire failure and a faulty front splitter cost us too much time. In the end everybody in Audi Sport Team Phoenix had to earn third place in the Eifel and the resulting GT3 win through hard work.

You never get handed anything on a plate at any event. Looking back, which of the two was more difficult?

I don’t think you can really compare the two races. Every event is unique in its own special way. At Le Mans it’s about sport prototypes on a semi-permanent race track, in the Efiel it’s about a race in a production based Audi R8 LMS around the world’s longest circuit. In the meantime, however, it shows that you can only win the majority of 24-hour race at a fast pace. I believe that together with Audi we showed that we can run at a very high speed at both events.

You will contest a third 24-hour race with Audi at the end of July at Spa. What are your goals?

Three 24-hour races in such a short space of time are a great challenge. I’m really looking forward to Spa as we speak. We compete under different conditions than at the Nürburgring where the GT2 cars were faster. In Belgium it’s exclusively GT3 race cars that fight at the front. In 2009 at Spa we clinched class victory and third overall with the Audi R8 LMS. Obviously we now want to fight for overall victory. After the race at the Nürburgring I can only say: the potential for this is certainly there.

Coming up next week

03.07. Norisring (D), DTM, round 5

03.07. Imola (I), ILMC, round 4

03.07. Guangdong (CN), Super Taikyu Series, round 2

03.07. Navarra (E), FIA GT3 European Championship, round 3
