JUNE 2, 2010, MAHWAH, NJ – Jaguar Land Rover North America today reported May U.S. sales: Land Rover sales were 2709 units, 22 percent up from 2223 units in May 2009; Jaguar sales were 962 units, 18 percent down from 1168 units in May 2009, The Jaguar brand will be significantly boosted going forward by the return of the XJ sedan to the showroom in June. Jaguar Land Rover North America May U.S. sales for both brands total 3671 units, an 8 percent increase from 3391 in May 2009. On a calendar year to date basis versus 2009, Jaguar Land Rover North America sales are up 7 percent to 16,407 units.
"Market demand for new products has proven to be robust this year with fantastic response to the updated Land Rover and Range Rover models," said JLRNA President Gary Temple. "We look for continued momentum for Land Rover as well as a similar reaction in the Jaguar showrooms now that we have just begun deliveries of the new XJ, and will begin to have 11 MY vehicles in stock being offered with Jaguar Platinum Coverage."
U.S. BRAND HIGHLIGHTS
Land Rover's U.S. sales in May were up 22 percent, the brand's 8th consecutive month of U.S. sales growth, driven by the launch of the new 2010 models. The volume leader for May was the Range Rover Sport with 1082 units sold, even with May of 2009. The re-designed 2010 LR4 continues its sales surge, increasing 146 percent to 632 units, up from 257 in May 2009. The Range Rover increased 179 percent with 745 units versus 267 in May 2009. For the year, sales Land Rover's four models have increased 20% to 12,174 units.
For the 2010 Model Year Land Rover's lineup features four models: The 230-hp 3.0 liter I6 powered LR2; the new LR4 powered by the 375-hp 5.0 liter V8; the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover, both available with the naturally-aspirated 375-hp V8 and 510-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 powertrains.
For May, Jaguar's U.S. sales of the 2010 Jaguar XF sales reached 719 units, down 9 percent from 790 sales in May 2009. For the year, Jaguar XF sales are 3,157 units, down 6 percent.
The first 44 retail deliveries of 2011 Jaguar XJ models occurred at the end of May. With the 2011 Jaguar XJ hitting the dealerships in volume in June, the company will now have two volume vehicles in its lineup.
For the 2011 MY, Jaguar Platinum Coverage will give Jaguar owners increased vehicle warranty coverage and the best maintenance plan in the business. The new Jaguar Platinum Coverage features a five year/50,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty and complimentary scheduled maintenance for the duration of the warranty period, including no-cost replacement of select wear and tear components, and 24/7 roadside assistance. This no-cost coverage includes oil changes, filters, brake pads, brake discs, brake fluids and wiper blade inserts.
